			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-88" style="margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 5px;" title="Offline Consulting Challenges" src="http://www.offlineconsultingsuccess.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/j0342055-150x150.jpg" alt="Offline Consulting Challenges" width="150" height="150" />I was thinking heavily today wondering what the biggest challenges that most offline consultants encounter when they are trying to start or grow their offline consulting businesses. At first, my mind wandered in every direction since there are potentially unlimited amounts of &#8220;reasons&#8221; why they aren&#8217;t making money.</p>
<p>In fact, you may find yourself in that same exact place as I did just a few short months ago where offline consulting makes a lot of sense and could be very lucrative but seems impossible to get your first check from a real client.</p>
<p>But then I finally decided to focus on what stopped me from getting paid as a professional marketing consultant. It came down to three things.</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Not Believing That I Could Deliver The Goods</strong> &#8211; Although I had invested a lot of time and money learning how to use the internet to get leads and start businesses, I did not feel like I was properly equipped to help other businesses use the internet to impact their businesses. I felt that I was missing the key ingredient to getting real results. I also started looking at the competition and was jealous of their website and presentation that I didn&#8217;t have at that time.</li>
<li><strong>Fear Of Both Rejection And Acceptance</strong> &#8211; This is a tough pill to swallow. Imagine being scared of taking action because you may be rejected. Even worse, imagine actually getting a YES and then being consumed with the thoughts of how to actually deliver on what you&#8217;ve been paid for! Either one sucks, but they&#8217;re all in your mind (as it was for me).</li>
<li><strong>Now Having Easy Ways To Do The Work Over And Over Again</strong> &#8211; Once I started getting clients, my frustration changed from that of not getting clients to actually getting them and spending way too much time physically doing the work that I promised them. It almost made me not want any clients again.</li>
</ol>
<p>Now that I identified these issues, I finally got to the point where I had to overcome them once and for all so that success can really start pouring in.</p>
<p>What I did was create a series of standard marketing procedures that would help me have the confidence knowing that what I was offering was <strong>Highly Valuable To Businesses</strong> (which tackled point 1 above),  made it easy for me to know exactly where to <strong>Start Once You Get The Yes</strong> (point 2 now void) and finally have a system in place to <strong>Shorten The Amount Of Time You&#8217;re Spending Delivering The Goods</strong> (point 3 all gone!).</p>
<p>And guess what, the fear and frustrations that I used to have are now completely gone (and replaced which bigger and better ones which I&#8217;m already in the process of knocking out too) and I&#8217;ve been able to easily get paying offline clients much easier!</p>
<p>So, now its your turn. Tell me your biggest frustrations about getting started online AND tell me how helpful it would be to have a standard, high value product to offer your offline clients that will take you under 1 hour to complete while charging at least $500 for.</p>

Before I ever heard of &#8220;moving the free line&#8221; in the internet marketing niche, I was already accustomed to the same principle that was summed up in this phrase; &#8220;Lead with a giving hand.&#8221;</p>
<p>Now that you have an understanding of moving the free line, how can you use this strategy to enhance your efforts within your offline marketing consulting business?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;m spending some time at a local library with my 8 year old son Christian (you&#8217;ll probably be hearing more about him later) and helping him do homework.</p>
<p>Anyway, as soon as we walked in, I picked up a local magazine here in Chicago called the Reader. I didn&#8217;t pick it up for the usual reasons; reading about all the violence and negativity in the economy.</p>
<p>No, I picked it up cause its filled with ACTUAL BUSINESSES that are currently paying money to place ads in there.</p>
<p>Did you actually think there weren&#8217;t any businesses willing to spend money for marketing in this economy?</p>
<p>WRONG!!!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a list of a few businesses that paid for advertising in this magazine, and this isn&#8217;t even a major magazine:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Maple Spa</strong> &#8211; local health spa</li>
<li><strong>KMT Health Food Store</strong> &#8211; specialty food store</li>
<li><strong>Affordable Portables</strong> &#8211; a furniture store</li>
<li><strong>Panic Anxiety Recovery Center</strong> &#8211; (Check this out &#8211; they&#8217;re promoting a free brochure. How much more response would they get for a 5 page special report)</li>
<li><strong>Superior Eye Care</strong> &#8211; vision care</li>
<li><strong>Shaw Legal Services</strong> &#8211; bankruptcy attorney</li>
</ol>
<p>WOW, this is all just in the first few pages.</p>
<p>There you have it. I&#8217;ve found tons of leads for my <a title="Offline Consulting Success" href="http://www.offlineconsultingsuccess.com" target="_blank">offline consulting business</a> simply by picking up a local newspaper at the library while helping my son with his homework.</p>
<p>Now that you see how simple lead generation is, you may have realized that the problem isn&#8217;t getting leads but taking the action to contact them.</p>

The reality is that this type of fear of uncertainty and possible denial applies to anything, not just your businesses.</p>
<p>Everyone experiences fears that keep them from achieving what they truly desire. It&#8217;s the ones who move on despite their fears that find there was nothing to fear in the first place and <span style="text-decoration: underline;">the worst really isn&#8217;t that bad</span>.</p>
<p>However, I don&#8217;t want to completely dismiss this feeling that you may be experiencing; it paralized me at first too!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a quick thought process that&#8217;ll help you come face to face with your fears and completely annihilate them. It worked for me and many others, and I&#8217;m certain that I&#8217;ll work for you.</p>
<p>The first thing that you must absolutely realize is that you ALREADY bring tremendous value in your offline consulting business! There are things that you&#8217;ve learned, methods that you&#8217;ve experienced, and marketing strategies that you&#8217;ve tried that qualified you.</p>
<p>Even if you haven&#8217;t had much luck in affiliate marketing or product creation, do you think the learning and discovery process you went through hasn&#8217;t given you nuggets of information that most local business owners don&#8217;t have?</p>
<p>When is the last time you heard a hair stylist talk about list building? How about a pediatrician who routinely discusses the latest google slap? I don&#8217;t think so!!!</p>
<p>So, like I already said, its not a matter of <em>when</em> <em>you have</em> enough knowledge and experience to start making real money with your offline consulting business, it&#8217;s a matter of <em>when you believe</em> in your knowledge and experience.</p>
<p>Now that you know the shift you have to make in your mind (this is always first), your actions have to follow in order to retain yourself to confront your fear and change your experience to one of delight and absolute joy.</p>
<p>How can you do that you may ask. Simple. Don&#8217;t focus on being a taker. Instead, be a giver.</p>
<p>Realize that part of this fear is that a stranger will say no to paying you for something that you provide.We often take this as a rejection of us, not a rejection of our offerings.</p>
<p>However, if your upfront purpose is to give value and truly help, there&#8217;s nothing threatening about that.</p>
<p>I can go around all day giving value and business advice without hesitation because there are very few who will reject good business advice. In the process of dropping &#8216;value seeds&#8217;, the question will arise, &#8220;What do you do?&#8221; This is exactly where you present your offer since they now give you an open invitation rather than barging through the door selling every service known to man.</p>
<p>So that&#8217;s it. First recognize the value you have to offer and then give it freely. Eben Pagan calls this moving the free line, however, we are doing it directly for good ol&#8217; offline business owners rather that digitally through our website.</p>
<p>The process is simple, and if you start every day with the thought of reaching out to 5 business owners to give value to, soon  the fear will be irrelevant and your offline consulting business will begin to soar!</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re just getting started, it may be overwhelming to think of getting your first few clients. After all, you&#8217;ve been spending all your time learning about what to offer these offline businesses and how to get the work done or outsource the work.</p>
<p>But all that training will do you no good if you never get a customer that you can actually do the work for. Besides, you&#8217;ll go broke if all you&#8217;re doing is refining your skills and become the expert but no one ever knows about it.</p>
<p>The way I see it, there are three free and easy ways to get offline clients today! Here they are in no specific order:</p>
<p><strong>1. Find out which local businesses are <span style="text-decoration: underline;">already</span> advertising with Google&#8217;s Adwords.</strong> This is a complete no brainer. These offline businesses are already spending money promoting their products and services online using Google. Do you think they may be open to your services that will help them get the results they&#8217;re already looking for? Of course they are.</p>
<p><strong>2. Start looking at the advertising and marketing that is all around you.</strong> I know this one seems silly but it really is a great way to get offline clients. Just the other day, I received a mailing from a local dentist office. Guess what wasn&#8217;t there; a website or a direct call to action. It just had a pretty picture, their address, and their hours of operation.</p>
<p>How many leads do you think this marketing piece is getting them. I would venture to say fewer than 5 for every thousands they send out. But you know what, this is the third time I get the same exact piece. What a great opportunity to walk in with one of their pieces and let them know the &#8220;5 Secrets To A Highly Converting Ad&#8221;.</p>
<p>If you think to yourself that you don&#8217;t have something like that, I just made it up. I used a little creativity to get in the door. That&#8217;s all you have to do just to get in front of them and show them the real value that you can provide.</p>
<p><strong>3. Visit a few local Meetup groups or BNI (Business Network International) referral groups.</strong> The first few visits are absolutely free, but what you&#8217;re doing is surrounding yourself with potential clients and business referral sources all for free. Once you close your first few sales, become a paying member and your business will explode.</p>
<p>The way I see it, even if you charge a minimal amount just to get client from these sources, you&#8217;ll begin to build momentum to tackle those larger payout clients and get them regularly so you can be confident that having an offline consulting company is definitely a viable business.</p>

Don&#8217;t get me wrong, I&#8217;m not saying that offline consulting is hype, what I&#8217;m saying is that there&#8217;s a lot of hype surrounding offline consulting.</p>
<p>This is especially true from marketers that haven&#8217;t made $1 from the actual consulting, only the selling of offline marketing material to online marketers and business opportunity seekers.</p>
<p>So what is offline consulting all about and why should you really consider it as a viable business that can earn you &#8220;real money&#8221; unlike all the hundreds of courses out there (believe me, I&#8217;ve purchased close to $25,000 worth of them!) that continue making empty promises.</p>
<p>The first thing that you should always consider before getting into any opportunity is believing that it is in fact a business, not just the latest quick money tactic.</p>
<p>If you realize that offline consulting is an actual business, then you&#8217;ll start off right because you&#8217;ll treat your clients with relationship in mind, not just money. This will help you build long term and lucrative relationships to those business owners that you help with their online strategies.</p>
<p>Secondly, you must believe that you are a marketer first and then a consultant.</p>
<p>Why is this important? Simple.  Because you are selling your marketing services to local businesses (at first) and if you don&#8217;t market your own offline consulting business successfully, how are you going to do it for anyone else.</p>
<p>Finally, considering the many possibilities of making real money as an offline consultant, remember this famous saying, &#8220;It takes money to make money&#8221;.</p>
<p>What I am referring to here is that you can &#8216;get started&#8217; without much else than bravery and courage to talk to the first few businesses. However, if you intend on making thousands of dollars per client, you&#8217;ll need to invest in your own website, your own list managements system, and some tools along the way.</p>
<p>So there you have it. Its a quick and easy way to understand the opportunity that exists through being an offline marketing consultant. As you consider these things, make a firm decision to get started and do whatever it takes to get your first client, then your second, and so on.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll finally get to the point that you can do this full time (not necessarily 40 hours a week, but as your sole source of income) from anywhere you want with just a computer and internet connection.</p>
